I could write for days about that, and it would only be a list of facts, gimme a week to include some colorful language. But it really comes down to this right now… take it away Jesse.

Jesse “the body” Ventura, former wrestler, Navy Seal, Governor, and GiJoe figure.

Violent, spontaneous polaroid by Daniel Arnold.

A pal of mine lost something dear to him that is also his main means of creative expression, or at least the key to his favorite outlet.  While theoretically replaceable it is a real blow.  Well I say pal, I say… when the Velvet Undeground got all their amps and fuzzboxes stolen in 1968 after mastering their uniquely maddening sound on their first two revolutionary records they used what they had left at their disposal and created what many consider to be some of their finest work (their spare, folksy 3rd record simply titled The Velvet Underground).

Of course they would eventually replace all their loses and make loud crazy music again, but they made some bad ass jams with that rickety old shit in the meantime.

Stop, Hubble time!

Shot from the payload bay as Atlantis left Earth yesterday afternoon.

When I was little, I thought by the time I was this age I’d have had the chance to go up in space, at least on a cruise ship of some kind, if not actually off to another planet. But most things Carter did either failed or were thwarted, Ronnie Reagan was just a great face for a corporatocracy and all the most powerful forces in the last 30 years have been aligned against any kind of real Human progress.  There usually isn’t much immediate profit in it.  Worse, anti-corporate, progressive forces on the left often oppose the space program citing its elitist beneficiaries or its epic costs that could be applied to fighting poverty.

Even if the World I thought I was born into had come to pass …electric cars, world peace, and round trip flights to Mars, I wouldn’t get to go anyway cause it turns out I have a poor constitution and am legally blind. But big glasses are back in style so I don’t mind.

Well, we can still dream. And watch Star Trek.
